The Dimensions of Acceptance

Home » The Dimensions of Acceptance

In a recent meeting of our fellowship we realized three dimensions of acceptance and after some reflection – even the fourth dimension.

  • First, we accept ourselves, as we are, knowing our faults as they are, and offer ourseles to God as we are “I am now ready that you should have all of me good and bad”.
  • Second, we accept our circustances, as they are, realizing illness or hardship may be part of life.
  • Third, we accept the circumstances around us, people, places and things, as they are.
  • And finally we enter the fourth dimension by seeing and accepting with gratitude the good things in our lives.

And the beauty of our program – it that it does not end with acceptance. Acceptance is just part of the path to our recovery and experiencing the twelfth promise of the twelve promises: We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.

I suggest the reiteration of the phrase from dimension one to the other three dimensions, “and offer ourselves to God . . .”. God is truly our driving force in all of life.
